Synopsis: Walter Mitty (Stiller) is often daydreaming, until one day he has the opportunity to embark on a real adventure.
Review: This is not the usual dumb comedy with Ben Stiller, and in fact he directed this movie. The odd events that occur when he is daydreaming, and that are already shown in the trailer, are what tries to attract the viewer, but finally those moments are few and the humor is somewhere else. It is still offbeat as Stiller likes but more subtle, more in the details like guys that look weird with a beard, or the super-adventurer character of the photographer played by Sean Penn, or walter Mitty doing some great skateboard stunts off-screen.
The movie is filled wih nice images and landscape. It is a kind of invitation to travel, which appears to be at first the main message of the movie, while in fact this message is: live your life, or as the poster says: Stop dreaming, start living.
Unfortunately the movie is not really funny, unrealistic enough so that it is hard to identify with the characters, and overall is too slow and too long (I don't think it required 2 hours).
Fun fact: it is the remake of a 1947 movie, which reminds me of The Great Gatsby, another old story adapted to nowadays' tastes with the help of large amounts of special affects.
Rating: 5 /10
