But the situation soon escalates, forcing Jihei to abandon his village and family.
Review: The last epic style jidaigeki movie is a long time ago for me. The story and storytelling are classical with the message that the war grasp everyone, even if peaceful people try to flee it. Here Jihei is enlisted although he was escaping. His mistake was to help a friend. This does not give much suspense to the story.
The camera driving is very modern for documentary or indie movies. In the same modern way, music makes three unexpected appearances a bit jazzy and traditional mix. Only for a very short time and then no more. The unity of the movie is thus only visual.
Rating: 3 /10
