Synopsis: A cop specialised in serial killers changes job after a traumatic experience. But teaching at the university is too quiet for him, so he starts looking into an old dismissed case while his wife alone at home meets their new neighbour.
Review: The serial killer story in this movie occupies only part of the time, the rest being more about the relationship Japanese people maintain with one another: family, colleagues, neighbours or strangers. We get to see them commute, neighbours gossiping on each other, the husband coming back home after a day's work while the woman is busy cleaning and cooking... all of this reflecting the day-to-day life in modern Japan.
And on the other side there is a creepy neighbour (I think the title refers to him), of whom you never know what to think. The atmosphere also gets more and more creepy until about half of the 2-hour movie at which point I found that the reactions of the characters started to be far-fetched, the pace of the movie slows down and a big coincidence is hard to swallow.
Unfortunately, Creepy is half an hour too long like many other Japanese movies, and hesitant in its conclusions which spoiled the pleasure the viewer could have had during the first hour.
Rating: 4 /10
