Synopsis: A Man (Craig) wakes up in the middle of the desert with no memory but a weird-looking metal bracelet. He heads for the nearest town.
Review: Not as bad as I remembered. It looks like Jon Favreau realized his child dream of directing a Western, because this one follows all the rules of the genre: a stranger arriving to town, conflicts with the local law enforcement, a powerful man in the region, horseback chases, gold rush... there are even Indians! And to make it more attractive for a modern young audience, why not adding Aliens?! The movie plot is actually adapted from a 2006 Graphic Novel with the same title.
I find the amnesia thing overused in movies and comics (see the series XIII, The Bourne Identity, the story of Wolverine...) but it sets the tone at the beginning of the movie and it is well interpreted by a silent Daniel Craig. I like the Western part and the way people have to unite to defeat a common enemy: first the Man with the big boss (Ford) that seems to know his past, and then the White men with the Indians.
There are a few surprises in the movie but it is somewhat predictable. I didn't like the final fight in which anonymous cowboys and Indians ride around just to be killed by Aliens, waiting for the story with the Man to progress. It shows a little lack of ideas towards the end.
Rating: 6 /10
