Synopsis: Since the dawn of times Minions like Bob, Kevin and Stuart have been roaming the Earth in search of the biggest Master to serve. During the 60's, their very existence is threatened by the lack of such Master and our three heroes volonteer to travel the world looking for one. | |
Review: Unavoidable spin-off to the Despicable Me franchise after several shorts, Minions is focussed on the loveable little yellow men whose screen time was already increased during Despicable Me 2. It is pretty remarkable that half of the dialogs in the movie are told in their weird language which meaning cannot be understood but more guessed, but this also clearly shows that the movie is aimed primarily at kids that will not complain about the lack of dialogs. The story is a bit more interesting for adults than the one of the second movie (super-villains, stealing the crown of England...), but this is compensated by a greater lack of twists and turns. The movie in the end seems like a succession of funny scenes involving the Minions. Not very atractive. |

Minions (2015)

I watched the movie on 18.04.2016 on in-flight entertainment 10" screen. The Minion language is a kind of esperanto where I could recognize a lot of Spanish, but also also some English and French. Linguistically very funny.
ReplyDeleteThe story of stealing the crown of England's queen shows the naivety of the Minions looking for a boss regardless of what the boss does and orders. And then by bringing absurdity in the rational world of thieves and queens, the Minions show that a bit of anarchy works very well. And thus that although they are looking for a master, no master is really needed. I like this idea.
Then the absurd things they do are amazing and hilarious. The "banana" word takes another meaning. Many small absurd actions are indeed very childish and have no twist, because after one absurd thing comes the next one. But as it leads to a good end, at the end everybody is happy. My rating is 6/10.
