Synopsis: Gru (Carell) is a villain, attempting to become the biggest of them all by stealing the Moon. Accompanied by an army of minions he has to defeat the wannabe villain Vector (Siegel).
Review: The concept of a movie revolving purely around villains is interesting, especially since the main character turns out to be soft-hearted. But beyond this original concept, I didn't find the movie to be very funny, more a succession of gags revolving partly around the arguably funny minions that will be shown more and more during the next two movies of the franchise: Despicable Me 2 and Minions).
Despicable Me doesn't contain a second level of reading that I like to have in animated films (like in The Incredibles for example), but is apparently more of a movie targeted for children only. It is quite OK to watch as the images are good and entertaining enough, but it is not in my top-list of animated films.
Rating: 5 /10
