Review: Second movie by Mitchell Altieri presented at the FANTASPOA 2017 Festival after A Beginner's Guide to Snuff, The Night Watchmen is also a Horror Comedy. Once again some half-dumb characters are placed in an extreme situations, except that this time the situation is not of their making and they are not so dumb, more the funny idiots you often see in such comedies, and they are more than two.
More characters mean more interactions which is good for the movie. It is not easy to keep the level even for 90 minutes in a Nth zombie comedy (or rather Zompires like they call them) but I found that one OK although I am usually fed up with the sub-genre (you people stop trying to repeat the success of Shaun of the Dead, you simply can't!).
There is no attempt at anything deeper in the movie but that's good also: just more and more Zompires to kill, some of them clowns (aaah, the childhood traumatizing Killer Klowns from Outer Space and Stephen King's It are not far), recurrent jokes like the things farting when they die, a bit of nudity, heroism and our wild bunch performing or suffering from gags at the right moments.
Rating: 6 /10
