Review: I am glad the organizers of the FANTASPOA film festival accepted to play this movie with English sub-titles (in addition to the Portuguese ones) just so that I could see it! Our experience on JoRafCinema with Hungarian cinema is quite limited (this is only the third movie) but always positive. I love in particular Kontroll by Nimród Antal who was then quickly recruited by Hollywood.
The Fantastic Thriller Loop (or Hurok in original language) looks very good and serious. It is easy to quickly identify to the few characters: the man, the wife, the father, the bad guy, and see them coming back non-stop in different flavors of the same situation (timeloop entails). It is not a timeloop as in Groundhog Day or Edge of Tomorrow where one person always comes back at the same moment of the day, but rather here whatever Ádám does he keeps on cycling the same couple of hours of his bad day and in fact crossing the path of more and more of his previous selves. No explanation is given to that, but as in Groundhog Day only redemption will get him out.
In fact quite a linear story (ironic for a timeloop) told in a simple and efficient way. Well done.
Rating: 7 /10

  1. Wow! They changed the subtitles for the unique non-brazilian in the room. Impressive of kindness. Fantaspoa sounds really good for the festival atmosphere.
