Review: Jumper is a super-hero movie outside of the usual Marvel and DC collection. The story is not really original and rather predictable: the guy uses his gift to rob banks, the frustrated romantic relationship, the bad guys... but also presents a few more interesting moments like the meeting with the other Jumper. The pace is appropriate and the special effects of good quality, especially when the heroes quickly jump from town to town around the world. Hayden Christensen was hired for the role soon after the release of the second Star Wars trilogy, counting a bit on his popularity at the time which was probably a good move, but I have to admit that I find him to play as badly as in Star Wars. It is not really a surprise that we didn't see him in big productions anymore after that. I remember that it is after watching this movie that I started to find that Samuel Jackson, although a great and charismatic actor, was starting to be present in too many movies, especially in the super-hero or SF genre. Jumper is a good choice if you wish to spend a evening watching an easy SF movie. |
