Review: A prequel to the successful X-men trilogy by Bryan Singer could have been a flop, when we see how the Wolverine spin-offs turned out (well, let's see the new one soon). However it is not the case, mainly thanks to a solid story that plays the card of "how it all began". The connection with the trilogy is well done. The three main characters and even the secondary ones are interesting (maybe to the exception of some Mutants) and well played. The parallel with real History (the crisis of the Cuban missiles) is funny, and helps a lot making us believe in a world in which Mutants exist. The ending is in line with the classical theme of the X-men mythology: how do humans behave in the face of the unknown other.
On top of all, the image and sound quality are crystal clear. I am now looking forward to X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).
Rating: 8 /10

  1. I avoided the movie in the theaters because I feared the same mistakes as in Wolverine. But if you note a big difference, it will be worth seing it. On my list!
