Dear Cinephiles,

what a month of June! Filled with many movies, two online Festivals and daily video reports on one of them. This was the Nippon Connection Festival 2020. We could participate to several events as detailed in the daily reports and watch many movies. Our favorite one was the touching A Life Turned Upside Down: My Dad’s an Alcoholic, followed by teenage drama F is for Future, the real-world romance Me & My Brother’s Mistress and the very funny mockumentary Extro. We also loved the short movies by Makiko SUKIKARA.
This Festival was followed by the Far East Film Festival. We have started to review the movies seen there and at that point the only good one was the 3-hour War Cinema fresco Labyrinth of Cinema, which was in fact also presented at the Nippon Connection.
Apart from those Festivals, we have completed watching the Death Wish series with Charles Bronson and can confirm we love the retro Death Wish 3, while Death Wish 4: The Crackdown has some interesting moments.
We also reviewed the fourth season of the continuing excellent series Rick and Morty, and were reminded how good was the 90's thriller The Pelican Brief.
In July keep an eye for the remaining reviews of the FEFF, as well as reports on our third Festival in a row: the Neuchâtel Fantastic Film Festival.
