Review: The story is as fascinating as a David Lynch story with several realities. It opens several worlds with quite basic stories in each. The mix makes it special and gives me a disconcerting feeling. Animals are seen as gate keepers standing as humans between two worlds. They have a senses more developped than human senses. Everytime one animal is met (ugly cat, sheep, etc) they act as catalyst of the story and we enter into a new page or new book. But so similar to the previous one that not only I was lost but it seems like the characters are lost as well! And this effect is amazing. The music is composed by a talented young composer, Bartosz Chajdecki. I liked in particular the music fitting perfectly to the tunnel scene. I did not understood the story. And I believe as for Lost Highway by the master David Lynch, coming out of the movie you can imagine many stories that may make sense. During the Q&A the director Greg Zglinski explains that Jörg Kalt had written the script and died shortly afterwards. The film Fund Zürich gave money for the film and gave also the director. The director explains that there have been 28 versions of the cut. The cut as provided in the original script by Jörg Kalt did not work. Thus other mixes transmit more feelings and one of them has been selected. The director and the main actor, Philipp Hochmair, explain that the author had already some names for the cast and in particular the role of Nick. The movie awakes my curiousity toward Jörg Kalt and I will definitely try to find his few other movies. |
