Synopsis: Alice Howland (Moore) is a renowned linguistics professor happily married to John (Baldwin) with three grown children. All that begins to change when she strangely starts to forget words and then more. Her doctor diagnoses her with Early-onset Alzheimer's Disease. Alice struggles to not only to fight the inner decay, but to make the most of her remaining time to simply living worthwhile. | |
Review: The story and the acting of Julianne Moore fit perfectly together. As the story focuses on the feelings of Alice the side characters have almost no own story but just contribute to Alice's story via what they do and what they tell her. Her evolution is fascinating of authenticity. With her subtle acting I sensed her frustration, her struggle spirit, her disillusionment, her shame, her happiness. This was excellent. The rest of the movie is just good without frills. |
