Synopsis: In a community of singing Emperor Penguins, Mumble (Wood) is born with a different gift: dancing, which is setting him aside from his pairs.
Review: Hard to believe that the man who created the Mad Max legend now directed an animated feature about the joy of singing and dancing among penguins! Well it is also hard to believe he directed Babe, and I loved that one! I had read an article in which it was stated that Miller had a specific style and message throughout all his movies so I has curious to see about that.
The story of Happy Feet is slightly original with respect to other animated movies for kids, although it follows the same guidelines: a singled-out hero to which you can identify, a romance story, some songs, challenges, meeting new friends... And the way it is told is also different, especially the fact that the penguins don't sing original songs written for the movie, but rather classics from the 60's to 80's.
So there are some good ideas and characters in the movie, and in the end message you get a hint of Miller's common framework, but overall I didn't particularly like it.
Rating: 4 /10
