Review: If you liked Horrible Bosses you will like the sequel. It doesn't really deserve its title (the "enemy" has changed) and the exaggerations are not anymore in the bosses' behavior but in the three buddy's one. Their specific characters are indeed pushed to the extreme: Nick the clever and reasonable one, Dale the very stupid one with a nerve-wracking high-pitched voice, and Kurt the follower. Most of the movie is spent witnessing the odd adventure of the three companions and listening to them brainstorming, bullshitting or arguing. And that's very funny. On top of that, you add the apparition of the bosses from the first movie and some new colorful characters played by known actors, and you get a good sequel that re-uses the successes of the first movie while adding a new touch. In particular I found that Pine and Foxx deliver the best performance I have ever seen them into (as the first movie did for Colin Farrell). I only regret that I watched Horrible Bosses too long ago so I missed some of the references. It is probably good to watch the two movies back to back. |
