Synopsis: A rich and very clever man (Hopkins) engineers the death of his wife. There are witnesses, evidence, a confessions, but are things going to be that easy for the young defense attorney (Gosling)?
Review: What is nice about a good polar or courthouse movie is that the story is well written, so that at some point all the pieces match together like in a puzzle (think about Usual Suspects). I found that it was the case in this movie, even if it is not revolutionary. It is a battle of wits between the murderer played by Hopkins (brilliant) and the attorney played by Gosling. The side stories (love affair of the wife, new job of Gosling...) are not out of place and release efficiently the tension from the main story. The ending is good, and in particular much better than the 2 alternate endings you can see on the Blu-ray.
