Dear Cinephiles,
September was a month of Festivals. First, the Munich Fantasy Film (sort of) Festival made us discover excellent little thrillers like Coherence and Cold in July, solid horrifico-thrillers like The Babadook, It Follows and Starry Eyes, and the 1928 rarity The Fall of the House of Usher.
Then the San Sebastian Film Festival took place with its selection of Spanish and Hispanic movies in particular. The highlights were Ciencias Naturales, La Salada, Cain's Children and Name me. Reviews are still being written and a summary of the Festival will follow in October.
During that month we also enjoyed the 10ish-years old movies Amer, The Ninth Gate, Payback, Zatôichi and Die Welle. A special mention for the Bolivian movie Zona Sur. Among recent theatrical releases we only liked the french Comedy Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu?.
The next festival in sight is the Nordische Lübeck Filmtage from 29.10.2014 to 02.11.2014 focused on Scandinavian and Baltic countries.
