Dear
Cinephiles,
There is no more denying that fatherhood has taken the priority over movies watching and reviewing. We have written few posts since the last newsletter in... July, and another month went by this year without a single post.
But we still have things to say about the fewer things we see. Starting with the documentary Big, Bigger, Biggest that we watched over the course of the year and that appealed to our engineer's mind.
Then we just liked the Netflix production Triple Frontier with Ben Affleck, DC's best super-hero movie Shazam!, Clint Eastwood realistic The 15:17 to Paris, and the same for Steven Spielberg's mis-loved 1941 and Pokémon: Detective Pikachu which was not so bad.
We courageously started to watch the Fast and Furious franchise and up to now only Tokyo Drift is recommendable, but it's about to get better...
At the same time we were disappointed by the latest season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and by Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
At last things got better when we saw the French 1984 dramatic comedy La Smala followed by the touching Stan & Ollie and the surprising Toy Story 4.
Finally, the Star Wars series The Mandalorian produced by Disney+ was alright, but the HBO Watchmen sequel to the graphic novel with same title subverted our expectations and we loved it.
