Synopsis: Both talented thieves, Ripley (Freeman) follows Gabriel (Banderas) and proposed him a job of stealing from a Russian tycoon. | |
Review: Quite the classic story of thieves teaming up, and facing the usual lot of deception and surprises, reminding a bit the style of Entrapment with Sean Connery as the mentor (here Freeman) and Catherine Zeta-Jone as the (hot) disciple, here replaced by Banderas but with the help of Radha Mitchell which I like since Pitch Black. The story is not particularly exceptional, until a semi-twist that wakes you up enough to follow the last half-hour. But I found the motivation of the characters to be not very well expressed by the actors. For a Russian mob story in the USA better watch again Eastern Promises from David Cronenberg with Viggo Mortensen. A movie so quickly forgotten that I had forgotten to review it although I thought I did. |
