Synopsis: Frances lives in New York, but she doesn't really have an apartment. Frances is an apprentice for a dance company, but she's not really a dancer. Frances has a best friend named Sophie, but they aren't really speaking anymore. Frances throws herself headlong into her dreams, even as their possible reality dwindles. Frances wants so much more than she has but lives her life with unaccountable joy and lightness.
Review: The story is original and full of great expectations, as Frances lives finally a moment of happiness. Even if the daily life does not so great. She sees people's expected happiness that is not necessarily as expected, her best girlfriend gets envoled, her roomates fucks plenty of chicks, another girlfriend has a great carreer. And for this, you do not need to understand much about life, as you do not need to understand what Frances says. The important is that Frances takes her chances when they come, also making mistakes, but that is life. She does not need to live something extraordinary to be happy. This can happen to anybody.
The acting of Greta Gerwig is very authentic and like the black and white makes the picture very personal. Like all the moments of lightness that Frances takes from life. In this sense, my feeling by watching this movie is a bit like for Amélie Poulain, in front of this simple moments of happiness and lightness.
Rating: 7 /10
