Dear Cinephiles,
We have seen good movies the past month, some as part of the ArteKinoFestival 2016 from which we recommend John From for its creativity and the originality of magic realism, A good wife for its striking story and the symbolic co-production of ex-enemy countries, The girl without hands for its poetic realization and Fatima for its authentic and moving story breaking stereotypes spreading in Europe in the last decades.
A nice BBC Nature documentary to watch is Africa, we liked the American animated Kubo and the two strings and its Japanese notes, as well as the third season of House of Cards and the latest of Game of Thrones which may well be the best.
Two romances we can recommend are Alexander Payne's Sideways and Woody Allen Everyone says I love you.
We loved to discover the 1985 atypical SF movie Lifeforce, and the best movies of the month are dealing with European post-war trauma: Paul Verhoeven's Black Book and Francois Ozon's Franz [14].
This month JoRafCinema is covering simultaneously the Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre Festival and at the Nordic Film Days of Lübeck. Stay tuned next month for the movies reviews and Festival Overview articles.
