Dear Cinephiles,

the highlight of this month was the Fantastic Film Festival that took place in Gerardmer (France) from January 27th to 31st. A preview of the festival was posted, all movies we have seen have been reviewed and a full report is in preparation. We found that the selection of movies was very good, and the best ones we have seen from the official competition are in order The Devil's Candy, Bone Tomahawk with Kurt Russel and Patrick Wilson, The Witch and a modern and original version of Frankenstein. While at the festival we also liked Wes Craven's 1991 The People under the Stairs presented as tribute and the Danish fantasy epic The Shamer's Daughter.
Aside from the festival we gave excellent ratings to The Revenant with Leonary di Caprio, Miyazaki's Spirited Away and the 80's classic Robocop from Paul Verhoeven. We appreciated the recent release Dope, and among older movies we liked better Tron Legacy than the original Tron.
Finally we completed our series of "Best of cinema by Mad Movies" with the Part 6: 2013-2014.
