Review: I remember that the movie got a mixed reception when it was released. It is indeed not the regular thriller, and maybe not what people expected from Copolla. But I liked the unreal atmosphere in this little town (a bell tower with seven clocks that never give the same time!), the visual design of the dream sequences, and the sheriff that looks like John Carpenter. And of course a fat Val Kilmer who is excellent in his role. The movie could have been boring because of the odd story and the dreams, but I found it all to be well wrapped up and interesting. |
