| Review: From the right beginning, the director got bad points. He recalls a supposed Greek mythology that is completely wrong, the role of the Amazons as well as the roles of the mentioned gods. And then the movie does not offer much to compensate. Possibly the nice legs of Gal Gadot. And that's it! The fights are not nicely choreographed. The CGI effects are sometimes bad and sometimes bring some ridicule to the characters and the story. The dialogues are terrible. The acting is never credible. The only good acting is coming from the young Diana (Aspell). What hurts is that the movie did so much profit in such a short time! At least Hollywood may have money to invest in other movies with all that... |

Ouch, tough review. I could watch the movie on 07.11.2017 on an inflight entertainment system, so not the best to enjoy the Action but enough to get a good idea. Indeed it is hard to see the first half hour of the movie as anything else than the opportunity to show Gal Gadot and other Amazons in tight leather skirts.
ReplyDeleteI didn't find the mythology worse than in any other Immortals or Wrath of the Titans, you are taking this far too seriously. You should consider that the Mythology depicted is not the Greek one but the DC Comics one, making the link with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and trying to create a Cinematographic Universe as popular as the Marvel one (The Avengers, ...). And by successful I mean lucrative.
The WWI setting reminds of the WWII setting in Captain America: The First Avenger.
Then I can't really defend the movie, it is indeed pretty flat, but it was easy to watch and I didn't get bored so I would rate it 3/10. I am probably more used than you to watching American blockbusters.
