Synopsis: A group of bandits meets another group of weapon smugglers. When some bad words come up, it becomes free fire for all!
Review: I lover the story. It is simple. Some gangsters are teasing the others. Some gangsters try to trick the others. Basically it looks like a diversity of people as in the normal society. But you give weapons to these people and everybody get shot. In that sense it sounds like Reservoir dogs. The humour is different and very good black british. The cinematographic rythm, covering sound (i.e. shots), picture and movement is great. The characters do not evolve much but our perception of them evolves.
Everything takes place in an old warehouse. And only the simple building and the reactions of the characters are used to generate the suspense. The directing is good as it takes the best of what is available. The acting is good also because the combination of dialogues is great organised.
A really good movie with a simple plot.
Rating: 7 /10

  1. I loved what Ben Wheatley did in Kill List and Sightseers although you didn't share my enthusiasm about that same movie and I am glad to read that with Free Fire he confirms to be a young director to follow.
I unfortunately missed A Field in England in 2013 and High-Rise in 2015 but will keep on looking for his work.
